Sylvester "Sly" Harris Jr.

 On June 11, 1948 in Millington Oklahoma a handsome baby boy was born to Mrs. Artelia and Mr. Sylvester Harris Sr. they named him Sylvester Harris Jr. affectionately known as Sly.

He grew up in Millitan Oklahoma and attended public schools there where he graduated high school after graduation he moved to Dallas Texas and began working. On September 19, 1967 he was drafted into the United States Army and on September 18, 1969 he was honorably discharged and moved to Onalaska Texas, and open the Big Mann Hole Construction Company

In 1954 he met the love of his life Florida Henderson and on February 11, 1989 that united and holy matrimony to this union one son was born Saville Harris.

In 1984 Sly and Mrs. Florida Harris opened Florida’s kitchen restaurant and well known and loved eatery in East Texas they are also the proud owners of 350 cab Company. Sly was an entrepreneur at heart he loved helping people and giving others the opportunity to succeed he worked diligently and provided well for his family

At a very early age he accepted Christ he attended church in Idabel Oklahoma upon moving to Livingston he united with the Garner Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Claiborne Sr. where he was ordained as a Deacon later until he united with the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Darden where he remain faithful until his demise

Deacon Harris gained his wings on Friday, May 6, 2022 he is preceded in death by both parents his brother: Ben, Lester (Lois) and Travis E; sisters: Millie and Odean; father-in-law: Arthur Lee Henderson Sr.; brother-in-law: Jimmie Henderson

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 33 years Deaconess Florida Harris of Livingston Texas; children: Dr. Robert Long the III (Kari) of Tomball Texas, Sandra Long of Houston Texas, Seville Harris (Ashley) of Nacogdoches Texas, Sara Roberts (Shaun) of Dallas Texas; grand children: Sephora Love, Iceton Love, Robert Kayden Long IV, Kylie Janelle Harris, Cameron Long, Theodore Love, Carter Harris; brothers: Eddie Harris (Jackie) of Hearne Texas; sister: Virginia Washington of Coldspring Texas; Karen Harris of Livingston Texas; sister-in-law: Annie Robertson (Ezekiel) of Livingston Texas; Linda Bailey of Oakhurst Texas; brother-in-law‘s: Arthur Henderson Jr. (Linda) of Livingston Texas; John Henderson of Humble Texas; mother-in-law Ms. Dixie Woods of Livingston Texas; aunt Missionary Annie Mae Owens of Houston Texas; Miss Gloria Jean Stephs of Houston Texas. A host of nieces nephews other relatives and many friends
