Oliver Jack Reece

June 15, 1929 — April 13, 2024

Livingston, Texas

Oliver Reece affectionately known as Jack, was born June 15, 1929 to Jessie Reece and Eveline Bennett Reece in Livingston, Texas. To this union there were twelve children born; but only eight survived. Jack was the second oldest so along with his twin brother Olin Pete Reece.

Jack attended public school in Livingston but he mostly worked in the fields harvesting crops to help feed their large family. Jack was an inspiration to his entire family. He took care of his mother, we guess you could call him a “momma’s boy”. Even as a young boy, he took on the responsibility of taking care of his sisters and brothers. He was a person you could always depend on.

Jack met and married the mother of his two oldest children, Helen Reece Henderson and Linda Reece. He later met and married the love of his life Stella Wyatt. They moved to Houston, Texas and began building a life together. To this union seven children were born. Mary O’Bryant; Clenneth Reece; Jack Reece Jr; Estella Young; Sherrie Reece; Terry Reece and Pamela Reece. Jack and Stella were a team. They took care of everyone that walked through their door. His home was a refuge for many family members. Their home was a loving place where you could always get a good meal. He owned and operated a tire trucking service. In 1986, he suffered a stroke which caused him to give up his business. That same year he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour. He united with the Smith Memorial C.O.G.I.C in Houston, Texas under the leadership of Elder Harrison Tippitt. Due to circumstances and poor health he wasn’t able to attend services as much. But his baby sister, Missionary Erma Hill made sure he stayed connected to the Lord. They were prayer partners.

Jack was an awesome husband and father. On Sunday, April 7, 2024, his grandson, Elder Bernard Henderson, extended to him the right hand of fellowship and he rededicated his life back to Christ. Six days later, God called him home.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Eveline Reece. His wife, Stella Reece; son: Clenneth Reece; Daughter: Linda Reece; Grandson: Maurice Cunningham; Sisters: Martha Henderson; Pauline Randolph; Brothers: Si Reece; Olin Pete Reece; Percy Reece; John Earl Reece.

He leaves to cherish his legacy: Daughters; Missionary Helen Henderson (John); Mary O’Bryant, Estella Young (Reginald); Sherrie Reece; Terry Reece; Pamela Reece (Scott); Sons: Jack Reece Jr (Mary); Vincent Lewis.
