Funeral Services for Deacon Larry Donnell Pope, 57, of Shepherd Texas. Will be held Saturday March 31, 2018 at 11 am at the Lake Station Missionary Baptist Church (6020 FM 1127 Shepherd, Texas 77371) with Elder Jessie Porter Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Evergreen Texas. Larry was born July 13, 1960 in Houston, Texas to parents Melvis Pope and Mary L. Williams, and he passed away March 19, 2018 in Shepherd, Texas. During his lifetime Mr. Pope was employed with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 20 years he retired February 15, 2017, He also worked at Brookshire Brothers and Big Star both for 10 years. In 1972 at the age of 12 he united with Shepherd Pentecostal C.O.G.I.C where he was ordained as Deacon and worked faithfully until his demise. He attended public schools in Shepherd graduating with the class of 1979. He married the late Carolyn Elaine (Swain) Pope on December 24, 1980 and she was the love of his life until her demise September 16, 2015.

Potts; Nieces and Nephews: A’shunta, Ervin, Adrin (Clyde) Porter, Tracy II, Rodney Jr., and Joy; Great Nieces and Nephews: Aryunna, Dezeyriah, Patricee, Elijah, Draya, Paisleigh, Tracy III, Brae’lynn, Josiah; Special Cousin: Janice Carr; Step Brother: Lawarence (Linda) Dempsey; Deloris Koroma, LaVerne (Thomas) Williams; Aunts: Patrica Carr; Deloris (Lonnie) Davison; Dorothy Dovahoe; Odessa; Cross; Shirley Belcher; Uncles: Eugene (Cora) James; William Fletcher; Tom (Joan) Davis; Joe Sonnie; God Daughter: Haily Porter; Special Friend: Sgt. Cole (Tony) Harris.

He was preceded in death by his Wife: Carolyn Elaine Pope; Mother: Evangelist Missionary Mary L. Williams; Step Father: C.W. Williams; Father: Melvis E. Pope; Brother: Minister Tracy D. Pope; Sister: Melva Pope; Grandparents: Arron Carr; Emma McGee; Sercey-Jeanette Dixon; Aunts: Roslind Askew; Karen Wilkerson; Uncles: John Harris; Elliott Carr; Step Daughter: Janet Peters.
