Dudley Jerome Pickens was born September 7, 1959 in Livingston,Texas, to proud parents Roy and Jimmie Lee Pickens.
He attended Paul Laurence Dunbar Elementary, and graduated Livingston High in 1977. He furthered his education by attending Texas Southern University, (TSU), earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1982.
Dudley accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. Following graduation and His father’s death, he became the caregiver for his Mom, Jim. His life was one of service.
He devoted countless hours tutoring. He was especially good in all phases of mathematics. Many students became successful as teachers, principals, RN’s, Health Care Directions, Funeral Home Directors, etc.He was also the Owner-Proprietor of the family-owned Business, “Tots and Teens Canteen.” Discipline was never a problem because his clients were his students.
He was also a part of the weekly Bible Study Prep Team who were responsible for the Bible Study Lessons under the leadership of the late Howard Daniel, Jr., until his health failed.
Dudley was proceeded in life by parents Roy and Jimmie Lee Pickens, brother Roy James Pickens, and sisters Elaine Pickens and Ruth Pickens Bailey.
Dudley leaves to celebrate his legacy - his loving sister Clara Pickens Wiley Daniel, Nephews: Anthony Pickens, Justin Pickens and Johnathan Wiley (Pam), great nieces: Benaye and Nicole Jawntriece Wiley and Ga’Brielle C Wiley, great nephew- Javeon Wiley , all of Houston and a host of relatives, friends and students.
