Angela Criswell Figgs was born May 18, 1957 in Livingston, Texas to parents, Oliver and Maseline Criswell.
Angela grew up in the Marston community of Polk County attending Dunbar School until forced integration in 1968. Angela Graduated from Livingston High School in 1975 after being involved in many activities and sports. Angela attended Prairie View A&M University where she Majored in Fashion Design.
She met and married her soulmate, Love of Her Life, and Father of their 3 children, Ralph Figgs Sr. To this Beautiful Union 3 children were born with The Oldest, Tamica Michelle Figgs preceding her in death.
Angela and Ralph relocated back to Polk County and she became involved with social work through Greater East Texas Community Action Program navigating and advocating services for low income families. Her work was her passion. She was employed 34 years and involved with various organizations throughout the county.
She Co-chaired the Lake Livingston Interagency council initiated in 1986. She also Co-chaired The County Annual Christmas Program “The Empty Stocking”. She also Served on The Alabama Coushatta Head Start Advisory Board, Habitat for Humanity, C.R.C.G, FEMA Board, Emergency Health Care & Several other organizations.
Angela was big on Family, community, & most importantly her Faith in God. She was loved by many as her smile lit up a room & she never met a stranger. Her infectious laugh & big heart touched many lives over the course of her tenure at Community Action, and then after.
Angela is proceeded in death by her Mother: Maseline Criswell; her Father: Oliver Criswell; her Daughter: Tamica Michelle Figgs; as well as her siblings: Alton Simpson, Clyde “Billy” Simpson, Tina Marie Johnson & Leatha Mae Cartwright.
Angela leaves to Cherish her memories, Her loving and devoted Husband: Ralph Figgs Sr.; Son: Ralph Figgs Jr.; Daughter: Olivia Figgs; Grandchildren: Ryan Allen & Tamia Figgs; Siblings: Olivet Petties, Ollie Lee Stephens (Eld. Melvin), Gary Criswell, Min. Kathy Prescott, Barbie Faye Hunt, & Shirley Criswell; She also leaves behind a Host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins & Friends.
