On February 9, 1959, A baby girl was born to Mr. Willie and Eula Mea Barnes Sr. in Livingston, Texas; they named her Amanda.
Amanda grew up in New Willard Community and attended the Livingston Independent School Districts. At an early age she accepted Christ as her savior and united with the New Beulah Baptist Church in New Willard under the leadership of Rev. W.T. Hawkins.
She was employed with the Goodrich School District as a teacher aid for a number of years. She was a member of the church choir and touched many hearts. She also served as a youth matron.
She is preceded in death by her father; and her daughter: Letoya Barnes Huff.
She leaves to cherish her memories; Husband: Rev. Edward Thornton Jr.; Son: Germaine Barnes; Mother: Evangelist Eula Barnes; Sisters: Cynthia Barnes-Moore (John); Brenda Randolph; Brothers: Raymond Barnes; Pastor Willie Barnes (Timeka); Gerald Barnes; Granddaughter: LaRay Huff; Special Aunts: Mozell Jackson; Uncles: Rev. Ben Andrews (Joyce); Fred Andrews (Anita); Eddie Ray Anderson; Jerry Marshall (Margaret); Special Friends: Evelene Walton; Diane Knapper; Laguila Vance; a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and friends.
