Dan Flournoy Jr.

Funeral Services for Mr. Dan Flournoy Jr., 83, of Livingston, Texas will be held Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 11 am at the Livingston Church of God In Christ with Bishop Robert Johnson officiating. Internment will follow at Greenfield Cemetery in Livingston. Dan was born March 7, 1937 in Springhill, Louisiana to parents Mr. Dan Sr. and Ruthie Lee Dunn Flournoy, and he passed away March 11, 2019 in Livingston, Texas.

Dan grew up in Springhill and Cullen, Louisiana and attended schools in Springhill. After school he moved to Livingston, Texas with Mr. James “Son” Thompson and started working with him hauling pulpwood.

Later he met the love of his life, Elder Ruth Flournoy and asked her hand in marriage. On June 24, 1961, they got married in Livingston, Texas and to this union six children were born.

He was employed with Red Barn Builders Supply for thirty one and a half years before he retired from there.

He united with the Livingston Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Pastor Rayford Chimney, and remained there under the leadership of Bishop Robert Johnson and was very faithful until his demise.

He was preceded in death by both parents; Mother-In-Law and Father-In-Law: Annie and P.L. Dewalt; Otis Landers Sr.; Siblings: Archie B. Flournoy; Wanda Flournoy; Pearlie M. Flournoy; Henry Flournoy; Shelly Flournoy.

He leaves to cherish his beautiful memories: A loving and devoted wife of 58 years: Elder Ruth Flournoy of Livingston, Texas; loving and devoted children: Elder Angel Johnson (Deacon James) of Livingston, Texas; Dan Flournoy (Debra) of Orange, Texas; Evangelist Valerie Johnson (Julius) of Lufkin, Texas; Cheryl Brooks of Tyler, Texas; Richard Flournoy of Lake Charles, Louisiana; Charles Flournoy of Livingston, Texas; Gloria Gipson of Cullen, Louisiana; Twenty Nine Grandchildren; Thirty Four Great Grandchildren; Brother: Freddie Flournoy (Thelma) of Risen, AR; Sister: Louise Barrow (John) of Cullen, LA; Ruthie M. Robinson of Cullen, LA; Special Sister-In-Law: Shirley King of Livingston, TX; Vinessa Green (Joseph) of Livingston, TX; Nine Sister-In-Laws; Three Brother-In-laws; Special Friend: Mr. James “Son” Thompson (Rena) of Livingston, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
