Adam Henry Hulett
March 11, 1935 – September 12, 2017
Deacon Adam Hulett was born March 11, 1935 to Lee and Maggie Hulett of Corrigan, Texas. He received his formal education at W.W. Johnson High School in Corrigan, Texas.
He met and married the Love of his life, Maurine White Hulett on December 14, 1957. To this union seven girls were born. Mr. Hulett worked at Temple Industries as a fork lift driver. After many years with Temple Industries, he left to pursue his career as a plumber and received his Master Plumbing License.
Throughout his career, he became self-employed and started his own business “Hulett Plumbing Services.” His slogan was “ A good flush is better than a full house.” Mr. Hulett served his community, Polk County and the surrounding areas with great joy. He received recognition from the Community Association as the first African American Business Owner. He was compassionate about the people he served and believed in “HOPING” others.
He united with Mayo Baptist Church at an early age. In the year of 1969, he was or ordained as a Deacon under the leadership of Pastor Deason. Deacon Hulett was truly committed to his calling. He also served as Sunday School Teacher, President of the Usher Board, President of the Choir and in many other areas. He departed from Mayo Chapel Baptist Church and united with Pine Hill Baptist Church where he served under the leadership of Pastor Joshua Hawkins, who was succeeded by Pastor Terry Hodges. Deacon Hulett served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher until his health declined. He loved Sunday School and was compassionate about rightly dividing the word of God to others. Deacon Hulett was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many throughout the community he served, he met no strangers. In his “Smokey” voice, he would say “It is good to HOPE people.” Throughout his years of plumbing, he passed this gift down to three young men who continue to carry on with plumbing, Curtis Perkins, “Ceaser” Sweats, and David Hulett.
On September 12, 2017, a quite and peaceful life came to a close.
He is preceded in death by both parents; 7 brother; 1 sister, and 1 daughter, Sonja Denise Hulett.
